Aloha to all,

I have had the privilege to work with many many people in our business and am looking forward to a bright future for Ho’onani Photography. A few changes are happening in the midst of this busy summer season and I wanted to update all of you as to what is going on and what is new to come.

1.) The last few months have flown on by – as I mentioned in previous posts, I will not be the main photographer until after the twins are born. I’m 7 months pregnant today and the doctor says that I could be giving birth anytime now – although we hope not sooner than the next 6 weeks. Kevin (my husband and photography partner) will be taking on the photography duties and jobs until after the twins are born and I have recovered. We will also be working with an assistant for our shoots to make the flow of things move easily. I cannot wait to get back behind the camera – but I am taking it easy (per doctor’s orders) and trying to follow my bed rest instructions.

2.) We have several photoshoots coming up in the next 2-3 months. If you send us an email or call us – please know that if we do not return your call right away, we may be on a photoshoot. Our clients are important to us so we make it a priority to get back in touch with you promptly.

3.) You will notice that there are several changes to our website. Thanks to such an awesome Webhosting provider (Photobiz), we have made a few adjustments to our webpage – and they are AWESOME! I have also changed our Splash page (main page) to reflect a little more personality. Stop by and tell us what you think. 4.) Again – we are still looking to fill one last slot for Senior Representative this year. If you or anyone you know is interested – please contact us with the information needed and we will add you to our selection list. You will be contacted as soon as we have decided on the Representative of choice.

5.) Keep an eye out for information and details on upcoming specials that we will be offering. Each year – we have a contest that offers FREE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY or FREE ENGAGEMENT SESSION as a part of a celebration of our company’s achievements. That time will be coming around again shortly – so watch for postings on our Blog, Facebook, Twitter and Website for more information. Other specials and ideas are being cooked up in the office – so stay tuned for some awesome stuff coming your way.

Senior Portraits with Harmony Rhapsody

July 3rd was a fun and interesting day for me (Honey) as it is probably my last photo shoot that I will be doing on my own (by myself) until after the twins are born. I had the opportunity of taking the senior portraits of Harmony Rhapsody – one of my favorite people to shoot not only because she is easy to work with but she just happens to be my younger sister and the youngest of all of my siblings. It was bitter sweet to be taking her photos… knowing that this would be her last year in High School and she would be graduating in just a few months… Whew – how time flies.

After the portrait session – Harmony mentioned that she wanted some really cool borders and text applied to a select few of the photos. This is an option that we offer to our clients and it is also listed as a service for our Senior Portrait Sessions. I spent the day yesterday editing and adding graphics to her liking. I delivered them to her today – and she absolutely loved them. I couldn’t resist posting a few of them on my blog for all to see.

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Derek & Patricia Plunkett

Kevin and I had the pleasure of working with Kahu Keli’i Arruda once again – for a wedding that took place at Kapalua Bay. It was a wonderful sunset evening – with a bit of breeze to make for a beautiful shoot. The weather had been quite humid and hot the last week or so – and it was nice to feel a bit of tradewinds come our way. This was a unique wedding photo shoot for Kevin and I – as my husband Kevin took full lead of the shoot, while I stayed a distance away… the walk to the bluff would be too much for my pregnant belly – so I stayed back till the end of the shoot. We also had the privilege to have 2 additional people attend as part of the wedding ceremony – the Videographer, Kelly Pauole from Namaka Films and Mason Arruda – Keli’i Arruda’s son blew the conch shell for the ceremony.

BHS Junior Promenade Portraits

I recently posted on our old blog about having the opportunity to take photos of a few Juniors who attended the Baldwin High School Junior Promenade in April. I had photographs posted – but decided to remove them after having issues with possible copyright infringement. I wanted to share a few edited photos on this blog for all to see.

It was an interesting afternoon as each individual teen had a personality all their own – and that reflects so in their pictures. It was fun to be able to spend time with each of them to take their photos – and I hope that they enjoyed their session as well.

The Prom’s theme was “Moonlight Rendezvous” and took place at the beautiful Westin Maui Resort & Spa.

Provided to them was a standard portrait package – to include 8×10′s, 5×7′s, 4×6′s and Die Cut Wallets. Some of them also selected a package to include a memory keepsake photobook that included their favorite photos from the shoot in a custom layout book.

Personal Updates

I have been getting tons of questions from past clients and colleagues regarding my health and well being lately. It seems as though they have noticed the change in weight (as I have lost almost 30 lbs. over the last few months) and the reason for me being tired and winded very easily lately. Well, just to let you all know – I am just fine. Soon, (if you haven’t noticed already) I will have a little pooch of a belly as I am currently 5 months pregnant – with twins.

The first few months were quite a challenge for me as morning sickness completely took over my life. Kevin and I didn’t do many shoots from January – April because I was just miserable. But – I’m now 5 months and doing great… and I’m finally starting to get with every day life again. April was a big turnaround for me and now I’m back in the groove.

I must admit however, that it will soon be difficult for me to be mobile with these two babies growing inside of me. You will notice that Kevin will be doing most of the photo shoots from July till after I give birth to the twins… but I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else to take my place. I’m confident that you will enjoy working with him as much as you do with me.

Doctor says that the babies are growing as expected and doing great. It looks like we are having identical twin boys. Our son Ka’eo is VERY excited.

Thank you to all of our clients, friends, family, etc. for your blessings and warm wishes during this time. We are so excited and we know how blessed we truly are. Stay tuned for some maternity portraits of me in the near future and more updates on the babies.
